Smart locks
Keyless door locks for homes, offices, rentals and short-let properties, opened by code, card, fingerprint or phone, and managed without cutting a new key every time someone joins or leaves.
What this is
Keyless door locks for homes, offices, rentals and short-let properties, opened by code, card, fingerprint or phone, and managed without cutting a new key every time someone joins or leaves.
The practical argument for a smart lock is not the technology, it is what happens when a key goes missing. A lost key means rekeying the lock and reissuing every other key; a lost code or card is removed in seconds and everyone else is unaffected. For a short-let property that turns over weekly, that difference is the whole reason the lock pays for itself.
Every lock we fit keeps a mechanical override, because the failure everyone worries about is a flat battery on the outside of a locked door. Batteries are monitored and warn well before they die, and the override key exists for the case where nobody acted on the warning. A smart lock without a fallback is a lock that eventually traps someone.
What is included
- Code, card, fingerprint and phone unlocking on the same door
- Time-limited codes for guests, cleaners and contractors
- Access log showing which credential opened the door and when
- Low battery warning well ahead of failure, with mechanical override
- Remote code management for short-let and rental properties

How it works
From first call to handover
Survey of the doors, checking thickness, handing and existing hardware
Lock specified for the door type and the way the property is used
Installation and alignment, with the mechanical override tested
Credentials issued and the management app set up in your name
Handover covering code issue, revocation and battery replacement
Pricing
How this is billed
Quoted per door after the survey, since door thickness and handing determine which locks will physically fit. Where several doors are done together the labour per door falls. No monthly fee is charged for managing your own codes.
After installation
Support and servicing
Locks carry the manufacturer warranty and the mechanical override is tested at installation rather than assumed. Batteries are the routine maintenance item and typically last months, with warnings well before failure. If a lock stops responding, call the support line - and keep the override key somewhere other than inside the door it opens, which is advice we give at every handover for good reason.
Questions
What people ask before booking
- What happens if the battery dies while I am out?
- The lock warns for a long period before it fails, and every lock we fit keeps a mechanical key override for the case where the warnings were missed. Some models also accept an external power pack at the door to get you in.
- Can I give a cleaner or guest access without giving them a key?
- Yes. Issue a code that works only on certain days or for a fixed period, and it expires on its own. The access log then shows when it was used, which is the part landlords and short-let hosts tend to value most.
- Can it be fitted to my existing door?
- Usually, but the survey confirms it. Door thickness, the handing of the door and the existing lock case all determine which models fit, which is why we check before quoting rather than after arriving with a lock.
