Power Backup Solutions

Backup batteries and UPS systems

For properties that need instant, silent backup for sensitive equipment such as routers, computers, alarm panels and CCTV systems, we install battery backup and UPS solutions that bridge the gap the moment power is lost.

What this is

For properties that need instant, silent backup for sensitive equipment such as routers, computers, alarm panels and CCTV systems, we install battery backup and UPS solutions that bridge the gap the moment power is lost.

A generator takes seconds to start even on automatic transfer, and a solar hybrid switches over almost instantly but is a bigger system than a router or an alarm panel needs. A UPS sits between those two: it holds a charge permanently and takes over the instant power drops, with no start up delay at all, which is what a router, a CCTV recorder or an alarm panel actually needs, since even a two second gap drops a connection or resets a recording.

How long a UPS or backup battery bridges the outage depends entirely on its capacity against the load it is carrying. Sized correctly, it is not meant to run your whole office through a long outage, it is meant to keep the essentials, your internet, your security system, your point of sale, running seamlessly until a generator or the grid takes back over.

What is included

  • UPS installation for offices, routers and security systems
  • Backup battery systems for extended outages
  • Seamless power transition with no downtime for critical equipment

How it works

From first call to handover

  1. Load list drawn up for the equipment that must stay on

  2. UPS or battery sized to bridge the outage length you need

  3. Installation with a seamless transition tested under load

How this is billed

Priced against the load list and the run time you need, confirmed before installation.

Support and servicing

UPS units and their batteries carry the manufacturer warranty. The battery inside a UPS is a wear item and loses capacity over years of use even if the mains never fails, which we flag at handover so a shortening run time is expected rather than treated as a fault. Call the support line for a unit not switching over, or a run time that has dropped noticeably.

Questions

What people ask before booking

How is this different from a generator or solar backup?
Speed and scale. A UPS switches over instantly with zero interruption, which a generator and even a solar hybrid cannot quite match, but it is sized for a small, critical load rather than a whole building. Most sites with a generator or solar backup still run a UPS on top of it for exactly the equipment that cannot tolerate even a brief gap.
How long does a UPS actually last during an outage?
It depends entirely on the battery capacity against the load connected to it, which is why we draw up a load list before sizing it. A UPS running only a router and a CCTV recorder lasts considerably longer than one also carrying a desktop computer and monitor.
Does the battery need replacing even if it is never used?
Yes, UPS batteries degrade with age regardless of use, typically over a few years, and we tell you what to expect at handover so replacement is planned rather than a surprise the next time the power actually fails.
